Working from the outset with Uno Nove Otto Corp.and Nicon Build, the initial project scope was to create a delightful and contemporary dining space by transforming a 700 square foot ground floor space and an 800 square foot cellar. To complement the restaurant, which serves classic Italian dishes alongside craft cocktails and an extensive wine list, my design goal was to preserve stone, brick, and all-natural wood from the historical roots of the Italian country house while creating a warm and modern atmosphere. With just 54 seats in total, Canto NYC was designed to be a cozy and inviting date spot located in the charming west village neighborhood of New York City.
